UNCW Tuition Jumps 9.2 Percent

The University of North Carolina Board of Governors voted Friday to increase tuition across the state system by an average of nearly 9 percent. WHQR’s Michelle Bliss reports that UNCW students will see a 9.2 percent hike in the fall.

"The Vagina Monologues" at UNCW to benefit Rape Crisis Center

Dr. Michelle Scatton-Tessier, Director of Women's Studies and Resource Center and graduate student Autumn Beam in the WHQR Studio to talk about their 2012 production of Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues".

A UNCW student production of Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues" will run for two performances:  February 16th at 7 PM and February 19th at 2 PM.  Tickets can be purchased online at etix.com or at Sharkey's Box Office in the Fisher Student Center.

Armed Robberies Near UNCW Followed by a Bomb Threat Downtown

 

Wilmington Police officials say that early this morning two armed robberies occurred on the same block of South College Road at the edge of UNCW’s campus.

University officials sent multiple alerts telling people to seek shelter and lock their doors. Those orders were lifted before 6 this morning and classes started on schedule.

The gunman has not been found and police officials say the physical descriptions provided for both incidents are significantly different.

Hundreds of NC Veterans Struggle to pay Out-of-State Tuition

When changes to the GI Bill took effect in January, the revisions bridged a gap between the cost of public and private higher education for student veterans, leveling the educational playing field.
