Susan Auten

In the 1980s, comedians Kathy Najimy and Mo Gaffney wrote and performed Parallel Lives. Wilmington actor Susan Auten is producing this comic piece under the banner of her new theatre company, Keepin’ On Productions. The show is onstage at the Cape Fear Playhouse Thursdays-Saturdays at 8:00pm + Sundays at 3:00 through October 15.

TheatreNOW always presents a Christmas show, and it's become a tradition for Nick Smith to direct it. Last year, it was Trailer Park Christmas; this year it's Tuna Christmas. This is a sequel to Greater Tuna, staged earlier this year. It's Christmas set in Tuna, Texas featuring about 20 characters-all played by two women: Susan Auten and Erin Hunter. Director Nick Smith and Susan Auten joined us in the studio to talk about the show.

Thalian Association begins the new Red Barn Studio Theatre season on Thursday, August 11. The first show of the season is The Mercy Seat, a play by contemporary playwright Neil LaBute. Local actor and director Anthony Lawson is directing the show, and while Lawson is often associated with comedy, this show is not funny. It's set in New York City on September 12, 2001.
