Playwright A.R. Gurney, who just passed away this year, wrote a series of plays about the decline of WASP culture. One of these plays that received a lot of attention is The Dining Room, presented by Big Dawg Productions through November 19th. Listen to actor Randy Davis (of admitted WASP heritage himself) talk about the show above, and read our extended interview below.

Marley was dead: to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. These are the familiar opening words to Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, and these words also open a play called Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol, presented by Big Dawg ProductionsWhen I discovered two (mostly) comic Wilmington actors were playing the lead roles, I thought the show would be a comedy. But Steve Vernon, playing Scrooge, and Randy Davis, playing Marley, explained that the show is (mostly) a drama. It's clear that both these actors are absolutely in love with this show. Listen above.

We had director Randy Davis visit us in the studio to talk about the show onstage now at Cape Fear Playhouse: Neil Simon's The Last of the Red Hot Lovers.  This weekend (March 17-20) is the last opportunity to see this classic Neil Simon comedy produced by Big Dawg Productions. Tickets can be purchased online, at the door, or by calling 910-367-5237.
