When Talk of the Nation was created more than 20 years ago, during the first Gulf War, call-in talk programming was still new to public radio. The program built a large and loyal audience over its history. The TOTN staff has been NPR’s go-to team for coverage of breaking news from 9/11 to the shootings last December in Newtown, Connecticut. Stations and listeners have relied on TOTN for quality coverage, high-caliber guests and enriching conversation.
