Kenan Auditorium

International Concert Pianist Barry Salwen is kicking off the Rush Hour Concert Series at Kenan Auditorium Tuesday night (9/19) at 6:30pm. We had a chance to speak to Salwen and hear him play when he was our special guest at A Little Lunch Music this month. Kristin Brogdon, Director of the UNCW's Office of the Arts, was also there.

This Communique is a little different than normal. Host Gina Gambony isn't doing the interviewing; instead, WHQR's Program Director Bob Workmon interviews her about a show she's directing and performing in next week: Peter and the Wolf with puppets-shadow puppets to be exact.

The Tony and Emmy Award-winning actor John Lithgow first performed his original one-man show in 2008 at Lincoln Center -- on the dark nights.

John Lithgow identifies himself as a theater actor first.

WHQR Staff

Paula Brinkman and Carol Beaven came into the studio to speak with us about Wilmington Choral Society’s concert Viva Vivaldi. Listen to the interview for details on the show!

The show will be presented on Sunday, May 18th, 4PM at UNCW's Kenan Auditorium.

More details are available online here.

Singer, choir director, educator, and guest artist Marva Robinson tells us about a special concert by the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra this Saturday at 8 at Kenan Auditorium.  The Williston Alumni Community Choir and the Student Concerto Competition Winners join the symphony for A Change is Gonna Come, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Civil Rights Act (in July 1964 by President Lyndon Baines Johnson).
