A young lady used to need a Cape Fear Garden Club sponsor in order to be an Azalea Belle. Now, senior girls can apply without a sponsor...but they are required to attend a meeting on Tuesday, January 23rd at 4:00 pm.

Surely you're already suspecting that the Azalea Festival is nigh-whether you've seen it with your eyes or felt it in your sinuses. This weekend is indeed the 70th Annual North Carolina Azalea Festival, and the Azalea Garden Tour kicks off on Friday, April 7th with the Ribbon Cutting and Queen's Garden Party​, complete with Azalea Belles, horse-drawn carriages, the Queen herself, and dozens of cookies. 


Star Sosa, the owner of Spectrum Gallery, joined us in the studio along with Kimberly Exum from Cape Fear Garden Club.  The Garden Club just hosted the Azalea Garden Tour as part of the Azalea Festival.  During that tour, artists took root in the various local gardens for plein air painting, producing pieces capturing flower close-ups to large garden scenes to Azalea Belles.
