Wilmington Horror Story

The Bellamy Mansion, the Burgwin-Wright House, and the theatrical troupe, Pineapple-Shaped Lamps, have joined forces to present Wilmington Horror Story: Mansions of Madness. Gina Gambony visited this immersive haunted experience...risking life and limb to bring back this story.

The Bellamy Mansion is holding a very fancy dinner at an unlikely spot: the Dudley Mansion. This fundraiser is on Friday, October 13, featuring 5 courses prepared by Dean Neff and Bud Taylor, dessert by Lydia Clopton, 2 signature cocktails, and wine pairings throughout.

The Bellamy Mansion is all dressed up for the holidays. This Saturday, December 10, 4:00pm-7:00pm, the Bellamy Mansion and the Burgwin-Wright House are hosting the 4th Annual Christmas Stroll Through the Past. Bellamy Executive Director Gareth Evans stopped in to chat about it; listen above.

In addition to the Christmas Stroll,  the Bellamy is open to show off it's Victorian Christmas decor for free on Monday & Tuesday, December 19-20, for Nights of Lights, 4:00pm-7:00pm.

Friday Feedback for December 2, 2016

Dec 2, 2016

You know, sometime you have one of those weeks when everyone thinks you're just swell. . . Yeah, this is not one of those weeks. Listener Len in Ocean Isle Beach wrote: "I will never contribute to NPR again. . . Your news reporting for the past year never revealed the facts of the sources of the stalemates on Capitol Hill, of the depth and breadth of the Obama successes, and the sources of his oppositions, and of the depth and breadth of Hillary Rodham Clinton's proposed programs. You only reported Trump's proclamations, and on Clinton's emails, a trumped-up year of falsehood.

On the corner of Market and Third Streets, at the entrance to downtown Wilmington, there is a statue of George Davis.  He was the last Confederate Attorney General.  Third Street near Dock boasts a monument to soldiers of the Confederacy.

The StarNews recently wrote about streets in Wilmington’s Pine Valley neighborhood that are named after Confederate officers.  The namesakes include General Robert E. Lee, Lieutenant General Nathan Bedford Forrest, John D. Barry.
