Midday Interview with Jemila Ericson

During our Classical block on Tuesdays through Fridays at 12:06, Jemila Ericson and other staff members host a celebration of the arts and culture of the Lower Cape Fear. They interview artists, actors, dancers, writers and creators of community events--all the inspiring movers and shakers who enrich our lives.

Midday Interview: Coastal Carolina Plein Air Painters

WHQR’s MC Erny Gallery opened a new art exhibit on Friday, October 25th with a reception from 6 to 9.  Two of the twelve artists featured in Coastal Carolina En Plein Air were my guests: Joanne Geisel and Barbara Bear Jamison.

WHQR will again host the artists featured in Coastal Carolina En Plein Air, during a Fourth Friday Reception on November 22nd from 6-9PM in the MC Erny Gallery at WHQR. More info available here.

Peggy Pancoe Rosoff and Beverly Schoninger tell us all about Wilmington’s First Annual Jewish Film Festival.  On Sunday, October 13th at 3:00 in Thalian Hall, the film Broadway Musicals: A Jewish Legacy will be shown.  It features Al Jolson, Nathan Lane, Barbara Streisand, Zero Mostel and many more stars, with music by George and Ira Gerswhin, Irving Berlin, Stephen Sondheim, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Rodgers and Hart and other great American Jewish writers.

Midday Interview: Brunswick Little Theatre Presents "The 39 Steps"

Brunswick Little Theatre presents The 39 Steps, a farce based on the famous Alfred Hitchcock thriller.  Director Jen Iapalucci and her husband Adrian Iapalucci (who plays the romantic lead) told us all about the challenges and joys of creating a show that features 5 actors playing 100 characters in many different settings – all suggested by an empty stage with a chair, boxes of props, and homegrown sound effects.
