For many years, Virginia (Ginny) Davis was the guiding force behind the New Play Festival with Big Dawg Productions. After Ginny passed away, the festival faded into the background.
This year, Laura Smith is working with Big Dawg to revive the 5-year-dormant festival, and she's got what it takes to make it happen. Laura was a participant of the youth play festival under the direction of Ginny Davis several years ago.
Only the Youth portion of the festival is underway this season, but in future years, adult plays may be included again, according to Artistic Director Steve Vernon.
Students in grades 6-12 interested in submitting scripts to Big Dawg's New Play Festival have a deadline of May 1st. Submission information is here, and you are encouraged to email Laura Smith for additional assistance.
Selected scripts will be produced in October 2015.
