Wilmington, NC – State Representative Thomas Wright is calling the probe into his campaign finance records a calculated attack against him orchestrated by Democrats.
The State Board of Elections is investigating whether there are any criminal violations of the state's campaign reporting laws and has subpoenaed Bank of America for all of Wright's bank records.
The New Hanover County Democrat calls his campaign finance issues "minimal" compared to the orchestrated push to get him out of office.
Wright says the focus should be on Joe Sinsheimer, the former democratic consultant who filed the initial complaint.
I would suggest take a look at the guy who's filed this complaint and look at the Democrats who are financing him and where that came from, that's the story.
Sinsheimer says nobody's paying him and he's doing this on his own time.
I have not received a nickel of outside support from anyone to further my goals, or to subsidize the Jim Black effort or the investigation of Thomas Wright.
Sinsheimer says he's combing through finance records to purge corruption in state politics.
