CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE: Updates, resources, and context

Update: Intelligence Squared

November 29: We apologize - again - for operational errors that have impaired Intelligence Squared on November 18th and 25th. The shows will be broadcast in their entirety on Sunday, December 2nd and 9th at 6 pm.

Here is the lineup for the next two weeks:

Sunday, December 2, 6 pm, ***re-broadcast of November 18 show: The World Would Be Better Off Without Religion. In the words of Blaise Pascal, mathematician and Catholic, “Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from a religious conviction.” Does religion breed intolerance, violence, and the promotion of medieval ideas? Or should we concede that overall, it has been a source for good, giving followers purpose, while encouraging morality and ethical behavior? The debaters are Matthew Chapman, A.C. Grayling, Dinesh D'Souza, and Rabbi David Wolpe.

Sunday, December 9, 6 pm, ***re-broadcast of November 25 show: Should drugs be legalized? Medical marijuana is available in 18 states, and the vote on November 6th legalized the possession of pot in Colorado and Washington. With the highest incarceration rate in the world, and more than $2 trillion dedicated to fighting the "war on drugs," we continue to fill our prisons with drug offenders. Is it worth it? Our motion is: Legalize Drugs. Our debaters are Paul Butler, Nick Gillespie, Theodore Dalrymple, and Asa Hutchinson.
