About the Artists:

Diana Jamison- Diana has demonstrated remarkable growth since she started painting in 2007. She has worked with watercolors and pastels, but her primary interest now is painting with oils and creating mixed-media paper collages. Her impressionist style and use of rich color are her vehicles of self-expression. In a recent interview about the challenges she experiences as an artist, Diana said, "one of my first was overcoming the fear of putting down the first stroke of the brush. Another was to move beyond painting what I see, to painting what I feel. I strive for my work to provoke an emotion or tell a story." Recently, Diana, her daughter, and sister visited The Art of the Flower exhibit at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Both sister and daughter found their favorite paintings and asked Diana to reproduce them. Diana thought the pieces were a great inspiration for collages. Thus she created "Inspired by Vincent" and "Matisse's Flowers"; both pieces are on display in her show. Diana currently resides in Kilmarnock, VA, and is a former resident of Wilmington. She is a self-taught, award-winning artist who is an active member of the Rappahannock Art League in Kilmarnock. She displays her work year-round in their Studio Gallery as well as in juried shows throughout Virginia. She has recently been accepted as a member of the Northern Neck Artisan Trail.

Celia McGuire- From travel executive to artist, traveling the world on business, to capturing the same world in her landscape paintings, Celia enjoys being able to reflect different sceneries, bucolic meadows, sunny fields and seascapes on her paintings. Having retired to Brunswick County, Celia now travels, reads, refreshes her language skills, sails and dedicates most of her free time to painting the world she loves. When she travels, she contemplates the world with open eyes and open heart, which reflects in her colorful landscapes. She has always painted, sporadically, and has taken classes in Argentina with Ernestina Salazar, in California with Claude Durant and in Fayetteville with Bob Ray and Petra Gerber. She had a solo show at the Olde Town Gallery in Fayetteville, and had some of her works hung at the Cape Fear Studio, Franklin Square Gallery, Sunset River Marketplace in Calabash. She has been "Featured Artist of the Month" for the Oak Island Art Guild in Oak Island. Lately she has been painting at the Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington under the instruction of Joan Geisel. Her paintings are in collections in Germany, Austria, Argentina, and in California, New York, Minnesota and North Carolina. Celia shares her thoughts by saying: “Being able to express my love of travel and my communion with nature through my paintings is a very rewarding, intimate and intense experience that I treasure incommensurably.”
