Wilmington, NC – New Hanover County Schools Superintendent John Morris has submitted his letter of resignation.
Morris says he regrets leaving the job he has held for the last nine years. He says he's leaving to pursue other interests and because things in the New Hanover Schools are going well.
"One of the things that will make you a good leader is knowing when to leave, but it's true, you know, you want to go when things are good, the system is running along very well, there are a lot of good interesting programs happening.
Morris says he's looking at doing some educational consulting. He says he'll continue to live in Wilmington, and says he'll help the interim superintendent get started when his resignation becomes effective on August 31st.
