CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE: Updates, resources, and context

Spread the Word to End the Word

My guests were Ben and Amy Wright, parents of four children, two of whom have Down Syndrome.  Amy has written a song to be used by the campaign Spread the Word to End the Word, which encourages people to stop using the words "retard" or "retarded," and speak of intellectual disability instead.  Ben originated the role of Jack the Giant Killer in the original Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods.  Ben and Amy were also on the national tour of State Fair together.  Their concert Thursday night at 8 at Thalian Hall will feature music from Broadway and end with their new song.  Performing with them: soprano Kendra Goering-Garrett and accompanist/arranger Steven Errante.  Tickets are $25, with all proceeds benefiting the campaign.  For more information, go to  EndTheWord.org.
