Frank Funk, Ph.D., passed away August 21st in Tucson, Arizona at age 92. Frank and his wife Ruth, who preceded him in death, were remarkable examples of people who achieved much in their professional careers and went on to become unparalleled examples of volunteer service after retiring to Wilmington.
Frank had been Dean of University College at Syracuse University. In Wilmington, he was a volunteer and president of the Wilmington Railroad Museum. He was an elder of First Presbyterian Church, a reader for the EARS program housed at WHQR, and chair of the Board of Friends of Public Radio, Inc.
Both he and Ruth served full 6-year terms on the Board, from 1993 through 2005. We miss them both greatly.
