About the Author: Born and raised in Wilmington, NC, Chris Fonvielle graduated from University of North Carolina in Wilmington with his B.A. in Anthropology in 1978. Fonvielle then went on to complete his M.A. in American History at East Carolina University and a Ph.D. in Civil War History at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. After briefly teaching at ECU, Fonvielle decided to return to his undergraduate alma mater UNCW as a professor in the Department of History. He's been enlightening young lives with his teaching and his books ever since. Works by Fonvielle include Campaign: Last Rays of Departing Hope, Wilmington and the Lower Cape Fear: An Illustrated History, and Faces of Fort Fisher, 1861-1864.  For more information about Fonvielle click here
