Hank Toler's been writing since he was a child-mainly stories. At some point he felt the urge to write for performers, something that would thrust his stories into 3 dimensions for all to see. Toler started with sketch comedy several years ago and eventually moved into writing full-blown plays. His third play, We Can Be Heroes, opens this weekend under his own direction.
Toler and actor Holly Cole (Lady Luck) joined us to talk about the comedy: a group of superheroes ("Champions of Justice") plus a new kid on the block, a nemesis, and twist they'll have to use all their individual supertalents to untangle.
"We Can Be Heroes" by Hank Toler. Theatre Now Brinner Theatre. Friday & Saturday nights at 7:00 through October 3.
This is performed at Theatre Now, usually a dinner theatre experience. For this performance "Brinner" will be served: Brunch + Dinner, with all kinds of choices that would go great with morning cartoons: donut holes, crepes, oatmeal casserole, waffled chicken, and even a burger topped with a fried egg. A malted milkshake is for dessert-with whipped cream and a cherry on top.
According to Toler and Cole, the show promises fun for all ages-adults will be thoroughly entertained; children will be delighted. Tickets are available at Theatre Now on the corner of 10th & Dock Streets and online.
