Oak Island Votes in Southport's Tourism Director as Mayor and Two Newcomers to Council

Top row (r-l): Sheila Mansfield Bell and Charlie Blalock won seats as well as incumbent Jeff Winecoff (bottom row, far left)

In Brunswick County, the Town of Oak Island will see some new faces on Council.  The Brunswick County beach town has a new mayor – and two new council members.

Cin Brochure, the current Director of Tourism for the City of Southport, will serve as the new Mayor of Oak Island.  Three-term mayor Betty Wallace decided not to seek another term.

Of the two incumbents on Council seeking second terms, only one kept his seat.  Jeff Winecoff will serve again – alongside first-timers Charlie Blalock and Sheila Mansfield Bell.  The latter two also landed the most votes – with Winecoff coming in third.

Rachel hosts and produces CoastLine, an award-winning hourlong conversation featuring artists, humanitarians, scholars, and innovators in North Carolina. The show airs Wednesdays at noon and Sundays at 4 pm on 91.3 FM WHQR Public Media. It's also available as a podcast; just search CoastLine WHQR. You can reach her at rachellh@whqr.org.
