NHCo Schools Look at Redistricting
By Michelle Bliss
Wilmington, NC – New Hanover County schools are redistricting for the 2009-2010 school year in order to fill a new elementary school already in the works.
The new school will open in August, 2009 in the northern end of the county, off Holly Shelter Road. Bill Hance, Assistant Superintendent of Operations for New Hanover County Schools, discussed plans for redistricting at the Monday night school board meeting. He says more planning is needed.
"The Board decided to have a work session, which they needed to do in order to move forward with redistricting and give us, the committee, direction on how to proceed."
Along with filling the new school, redistricting is necessary for upcoming renovations to Winter Park Elementary and the rebuilding of Snipes Academy.
