The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners announced a new county manager to succeed Bruce Shell, who retires at the end of June after 25 years.
Assistant County Manager Chris Coudriet will assume the role, bringing almost 20 years of public administration experience to the job. Coudriet previously served as county manager for Franklin and Washington counties and has worked in various roles with the North Carolina Division of Emergency Management. Coudriet was hired as New Hanover’s assistant county manager in 2008. He oversees many departments including environmental management, fire services, health and social services, veteran services, and planning and inspections. He will become county manager on June 30 with a salary of $155,000.
