Dumay Gorham, III has been working with Metal for over 15 years. You'll find his work all over town: the Seahawk at the front of UNCW, the Sundial in the Butterfly Garden at Ft. Fisher, and the Sea Serpent at the Arboretum are some notable examples. While he does most of his work for individual clients, he just opened his first solo exhibit in 8 years: Guardians of the Garden at Airlie Gardens. The show includes 12 new pieces plus 2 pieces he created a few years ago.
"Guardians" includes an owl, fox, praying mantis, dragon, gargoyles, a hummingbird, and more. Children who come to Airlie Gardens are invited to go on a scavenger hunt; if they find all the sculptures, they receive a prize.
The exhibit opened June 15 and will remain in Airlie through October.
