NC Ports Says Business is Rebounding
By Catherine M. Welch
Wilmington, NC – North Carolina State Ports Authority CEO Tom Eager says business is rebounding after a downturn in the last fiscal year.
Eager says new business and a more diverse range of items coming into North Carolina's ports are filling in the gaps created by the sluggish housing market.
We were too centered, you know, on a couple of major commodities, forest products for example, and we took the biggest hit there.
Eager says the Port Authority is closing a deal with a biofuel company looking to build a plant in Wilmington, bringing large shipments of palm oil through the port.
