McIntyre Votes Against Health Care Bill
By Catherine M. Welch
Wilmington, NC – Congressman Mike McIntyre says he voted against the health care bill in the House because it was too expensive and did not adequately bring down health care costs.
McIntyre was one of 39 Democrats who voted against the bill, it passed late Saturday night.
In a released statement McIntyre said the bill would raise taxes when health care could be improved by allowing small businesses to pool together insurance and by providing tax credits for long-term care.
McIntyre is a member of the Blue Dog coalition. That's a group of conservative democrats currently urging Congress to control costs tied to health care overhaul.
