July 9 Marks New Weekend Programming Schedule

Starting on Saturday, July 9, WHQR will begin a new weekend programming schedule. Find the changes and additions below.

Beginning Saturday, July 9:

6:00pm - The Thistle & Shamrock (RETURN)

Fiona Ritchie returns to WHQR with music from the Celtic traditions of Ireland, Scotland and beyond on Thistle and Shamrock, Six o'clock Saturday evenings on 91-3, WHQR.

7:00pm- Across the Blue Ridge (NEW TIME)

Paul Brown takes you on an exploration of America's musical traditions from the Appalachian Mountains to the Mississippi delta on Across the Blue Ridge, now Saturday evenings at 7:00 on 91-3, WHQR.

8:00pm - Magnolia Fatback Folk Hour

Magnolia Fatback Hour is a folk and bluegrass hour hosted by a musician who cares passionately about what he spins on-air and will tell you why each tune is worth hearing. John Fonvielle is a talented guitarist and bassist who also enjoys playing DJ

9:00pm - Soup to Nuts

A unique and personal music mix for a Saturday night. Local performers, big names, old and new, borrowed and blue. You never know what you're going to get. Plus, Soup to Nuts Live! features local concerts recorded in our WHQR Gallery.

10:00pm - Woodsongs(RETURN) 

Woodsongs Old-time Radio Hour returns to WHQR with host Michael Johnathan's singular take on American in music, literature and pop culture, Saturdays at 10 pm pn 91-3, HQR. 

11:00pm - Front Street Blues

WHQR's Front Street Blues include spinning classic, traditional, and contemporary tunes, peppered with flavors from all across the Blues map.

Beginning Sunday, July 10:

10:00 - The New Yorker Radio Hour(NEW) 

The New Yorker Magazine takes to the airwaves as the editor David Remnick presents a diverse mix of interviews, profiles and storytelling, with an occasional burst of humor. The New Yorker Radio Hour, Sunday mornings at 10 on 91-3, HQR.

11:00 - Bullseye(NEW)  

Bullseye from NPR is your curated guide to culture. Jesse Thorn hosts in-depth interviews with brilliant creators, culture picks from our favorite critics and irreverent original comedy, Sunday mornings at 11 on 91-3, HQR.

12:00 - Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me (Repeat broadcast)

1:00pm - Car Talk (Repeat broadcast)
