Wilmington, NC – A Brunswick County Judge has cleared the way for a probe into the background of the woman who accused Brunswick County School Board Member Ray Gilbert of threatening her.
Last November West Brunswick High School secretary Yvonne Hankins accused Gilbert of making threatening remarks during their romantic relationship.
In December, Brunswick County Judge Jerry Jolly banned Gilbert from coming into contact with Hankins and her children and the school board censured Gilbert, banning him from all Brunswick County schools.
Gilbert's lawyer Edwin West says he will ask questions of Hankins and two other witnesses who testified at an earlier hearing.
Hankins has a history of filing domestic violence orders against her former husband. This was not addressed in the earlier hearings.
