The thing I look forward to most about when I can retire is that I will be able to listen to more of [WHQR]. I am not a big fan of classical music but I appreciate that others are.

George Edwards of Wilmington wrote:

Good variety, considering the demands for balance. I would enjoy more evening jazz, .... I would also endorse these shows for consideration; Fiona Ritchie-Thistle & Shamrock (in addition to the new Celtic music show which is quite good), Mountain Stage, and Putumayo World Music.

"mrs_mjwest" commented on our story Web Site Misleads Military Service Members and Veterans:

I'd like to know what NC plans to do with the money. It would be nice to see it added to the UNC school system budget to offset the losses over the last 3 years.

Listener Virginia wrote:

[The TED Radio Hour] is great. I have heard friends in the Triangle talking about how good it is. Now we have it on WHQR! I hope it will continue beyond the summer.

As I wrote to Virginia, this is a 13-week series from NPR. It's not clear yet if they will continue it beyond that time. If you go to whqr-dot-org and search for "TED Radio", you can get to a page with a link to an NPR survey on the show.

Listener Carroll wrote:

What Happened to the CapitolSteps? … I look forward to hearing the Capitol Steps because their shows are just hysterically funny and I am totally disappointed. I hope you will air their shows in the future!

I wrote back to Carroll that though the show was not on the schedule this Independence Day, we would take his message as a vote for it.

James in Calabash wrote:

Your classical programming is super, when it's on. I love George Scheibner's eclectic musical offerings, although the poor guy needs a clone...I would really like to hear good classical programming on Sunday AM till 10 AM at least. I hear enough news the rest of the week.

For James and others, please click on the "HD2" button at the top left of each page on our site. You'll access our 24-hour all-classical channel.

Keith James commented on Lan Nichols’ recent blog post about his “Top 5 Blues Artists You’ve Never Heard Of”:

Thanks for including Marion James, she is certainly worthy and a true pioneer. Nashville was a real blues / R&B town before it went country.

In other feedback about music, Palma and Doug Smith of Winnabow wrote:

We love Mid-Day Cafe. [We] would like to hear more of that kind of music during the day programming.

And we had several calls on Independence Day thanking us for four hours of all-American music during Jemila’s daytime classical music.
