CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE: Updates, resources, and context

Friday Feedback for July 25, 2014

We’ll start with a couple of playlist questions. Martyn Hawkins wrote to us via Facebook:

You have been playing the most magnificent music [Wednesday] evening at [10]:10, [11]:25, and [11]:44. I have tried to find out what it was so I could buy copies of it. In your typical moronic "Radio With Vision" there was no way to find out. Even Mayberry RFD would have a more sensibly arranged station.

For Martyn and others, including the good folks of Mayberry, the information requested is available on our website. In the right hand column scroll down a bit to a box called "Now Playing." In that box is a calendar icon labeled "Full Schedule."

When you click there, you will (of course) see a full schedule of our shows. The 10pm link called "Classical Music with Jemila" takes you to a list of her morning selections.

Since the 10 pm and 11 pm hours are re-broadcasts of that day's 10 am and 11 am, you can find the information for 7/23's evening music by looking at 7/23 morning.

By this means we find that the 10:22 selection on Wednesday, July 23rd was Concerto Grosso No. 5 in B flat major by Francesco Geminiani. [The 11:25 selection was Auf dem Wasser zu singen Op 72 by Franz Schubert. The 11:44 selection was Enigma Variations Op 36 by Sir Edward Elgar.]

We hope this helps you enjoy the station even more.

My boyfriend and I love the Magnolia Fatback hour - but why can't we find playlists from shows on your website? Sometimes we miss the name of the songwriter/singer or just have to get out of the car! We want to support musicians and see their shows and buy their CDs - but we can't if we don't know who they are! Thanks for all the great shows on 91.3!! … at work, everyone listens to 91.3.

We’ll work with the producer of this show to get his playlists on the air. Thanks very much.

This was the week, of course, for our summer “Keep it Short” campaign. We were very pleased to have finished in just 2 days – thank you for that. And as usual, we got lots of comments about the station. Here’s a sample:

Thank you for giving me an alternative to the morning TV not-really-the-news shows!

More talk, less music.

Hello from Vina del Mar, Chile, from the kitchen, where there's a big pot of chicken curry bubbling. This gift is to honor my UNCW Chile summer study abroad students, who are the best. Thank you for wonderful programming, WHQR! It's great to hear you from anywhere in the world!
