[Smooth Landings is] the best 30 minutes of music on the radio, period! -- Bob and Cathy

Last week it was comments about music, this week it’s the technology help desk.

Listeners Bob and Cathy wrote:

We are trying to listen to Smooth Landings and cannot get the station to live stream during that show or at any time. The Classical station comes in but not George. We miss Smooth Landings and George and his guest DJs. It’s the best 30 minutes of music on the radio, period!

I wrote to Bob and Cathy that we're sorry they are experiencing problems. From time to time our stream may be interrupted due to internet dropouts, a problem we are working on. If you're having trouble:

First, please make sure you're on the right link. In the upper left of our website is a button that says Listen Live. When you click on it you get two choices: "WHQR" followed by the name of the current program (this is the 91.3fm signal, our main channel), or "WHQR HD2 Classical 24". It depends on which one you click, but either should launch an audio player. iTunes is probably the most common.

URL for the WHQR stream

If you have iTunes, you can enter the stream's address directly into the program.

Try this:

File menu > Open Stream

then paste this URL:
http://pubint.ic.llnwd.net/stream/pubint_whqr

URL for the all-classical stream

and hit OK.

For the HD2 stream, use
http://24.199.247.166:8000/hd2

Other players may have similar ways of entering the URL directly.

Listener Linda wrote about a problem trying to get WHQR on her mobile phone:

On first try got an immediate redirect to [the] mobile screen, which was great! Unfortunately, I then clicked "full site" and now can't recapture [the] mobile screen, even after I powered down [the] whole phone and rebooted.

I wrote to Linda: "In your browser's navigation window, type
m.whqr.org
That should reset it to the mobile version.”

And Linda responded:

Thanks! It works perfectly now. Who knows why because I had tried the m. URL in my efforts to recover the mobile site. Anyhow, I love the mobile site. I travel a lot between Raleigh and Oak Island. Hopefully this site will help me bring in WHQR earlier - and the digital channel! . . . thanks so much for this new service.

Alice Razzano wrote to Mary Bradley:

I want to personally thank WHQR for the screening of the movie "Philomena." What a wonderful story; they should make more movies like that! WHQR has had great movies at [Cinematique]; keep up the good work.

We’d love to hear from you on Friday Feedback. You can always leave a message via email to feedback@WHQR.org. Our Feedback Phone is 910-292-WHQR. That’s 292-9477. And thanks for your feedback.
