Listeners reacted with approval to our recent announcement that Gina Gambony has been hired as our Classical Host. You hear her voice Tuesday - Friday between 9am and 1pm on Classical HQR, and at other times. Gloria Shirley wrote on our website:

I feel as if classical music was "sold down the river". I received an HD radio whose sound quality doesn't equal my other radios, so that listening to classical music is not as rewarding as it was before the station split. In the evenings I'd very much appreciate a mixture of classical, jazz, folk and indie music, instead of the steady diet of jazz on the news station, which always comes in loud and clear.

We wrote to Leslie that this information came directly from the Associated Press. We don’t know where the Associated Press got their information. Leslie, who teaches in local high schools, is in a position to know, and says
The grade scale is 93-100 is an A, 85-92 a B, 77-84 a C and 70-77 a D. So, unfortunately a grade below 70 is an F.

Again this morning… I heard an extended report on today's cultural calendar that was just plain wrong. It started out by stating that it was Wednesday Feb. 4th and went on to describe a lot of things going on … which actually opened last week. This happened about 5:15 am. Do you just not think anyone listens at that time of day?… Even though we're half asleep, some of us depend on your local news/weather updates. Either get them right or don't report them at all!
For Kathleen and others, we do apologize for the error. The Cultural Calendar from Wednesday was accidentally recorded over the one from Tuesday, leaving the old Cultural Calendar active, and we didn’t discover the error until shortly after 9 am. We agree that listeners depend on the information and we must get it right. Thanks for writing.
