CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE: Updates, resources, and context

Friday Feedback for April 11, 2014

Cleve Callison

Forgive us, but we’re still basking in the glow of the Spring member drive which ended last week. Here are some more listener comments that came in during the drive:

You are an oasis in the desert. -- Joanna and Charles Clancy

Late in the drive Paul and Rebecca Reinmann wrote:

[We] have suggested following the Car Talk Guys approach - send in your pledges on a $5,000 and $10,000 bill, and we're there! Voila! We'd need only two more pledges at this rate.

Well, there ya go.

Margie McKinzie of Wilmington said:

I'm a 30 year donor, and remember putting my children to bed listening to WHQR.

Joanna and Charles Clancy said:

You are an oasis in the desert.

Mary Lou Corbin said:

I 'awaken' each morning with ME. There is a hole in my day if I should miss it. The announcers seem as familiar as members of my family and I miss them when they are not on air. Good news or bad.

Robert Penna of Wilmington said:

I was very sorry to leave my station in Albany and I was very happy to have found you when I moved down here.

Olivia Dorsey of Wilmington said:

I can't imagine of Wilmington with out it. It elevates our community.

Robin Salter of Wilmington said:

Thank you WHQR. I'm smarter because you're on the air.

Mort Levine and Sue Skoda of Wilmington said:

Greatest channel in all of Wilmington. The only one we really listen to!

Hi this is Marjorie Gulliksen calling, and I commend you on your recent honorable semi-annual pledge drive. Thanks to all of the staff members who stepped out of the box and gave the extra hours for this most worthy cause. Living on a fixed income, I especially appreciate your respect for the smaller pledges. Once we have a foot in the door, the beat goes on. I say more jazz, more jazz. Thank you.

And yet more comments on the drive and on WHQR:

Don and Danielle Kettelkamp of Wilmington said:

We think WHQR is WONDERFUL and we thank all the volunteers for all their hard work!

Cherry Beasley of Lumberton said:

I would like more people from Lumberton to call in, and we're so grateful to have your station available in our area!

Amy Long of Wilmington said:

I love it all and couldn't imagine life in ILM without you.

Angela of Wilmington said:

I’m a single mom on limited income who understands and wants to support Nourish NC and WHQR.

Scott Conant of Wilmington said:

I love WHQR programming, especially the combination of local and international news—it’s the best I've heard in my years of listening to radio.

Well, thanks, everyone for those comments about our spring drive. We’re grateful that your support allowed us to end the drive on time, over the goal. We’re also thankful to the 24 nonprofit groups in our Partnership Challenge. In case you hadn’t heard, the winner of the $1,000 underwriting contract was the Thalian Association. The winner of the $500 contract was Wilmington Interfaith Hospitality Network. Thanks to everyone who participated in this drive.

We’d love to hear from you on Friday Feedback. You can always leave a message via email to feedback@WHQR.org. Our Feedback Phone is 910-292-9477. And thanks for your feedback.
