Elon Poll Shows Support for Offshore Drilling

Wilmington, NC – The latest Elon University Poll finds two out of three North Carolinians supports offshore oil drilling.

The poll released Monday finds 69% of residents support offshore oil drilling, and most of them wanted the gas to be used by drivers in the U.S.

The offshore drilling questions were part of an Elon University poll conducted last week calling both landlines and cell phones of 411 residents.

Respondents also answered questions about the economy, which 38% think the national economy will get worse while only 27% think North Carolina's economy will worsen.

The poll has a 4.9% margin of error.
