CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE: Updates, resources, and context

Early-Bird Discount for "A Carolina Nutcracker" Through October 15

City Ballet
Act I: A Carolina Nutcracker

The City Ballet of Wilmington is staging "A Carolina Nutcracker" this year, set in 1865 Wilmington-imagined as a Christmas tale in the glory of the Bellamy Mansion.  This local twist is incorporated into the traditional production of the Nutcracker, featuring the full-length ballet, and notably, live orchestral music and a choir conducted by Alex Hill.

Alex and Andrea Hill joined us in the studio to give more details about the production (Alex had previously visited with violinist Beverly Andrews to discuss the City Ballet Orchestra).  Andrea is the Artistic Director of the City Ballet.  She spoke with us about the talent and training of the local dancers in the production, plus some visiting artists, including Bradley Rhoton from Boston (Drosselmeyer).  We also hear a few of the special adornments that make this Nutcracker so "Carolina."

The performance is on the Cape Fear Stage at the new Humanities & Fine Arts Center at Cape Fear Community College.  There are only 2 opportunities to see the production: Saturday, December 5 at 7:00 & Sunday, December 6 at 3:00.  Tickets are available here - and there is a 15% discount through October 15.   Tickets are also available at the Box Office without online convenience fees, just call 910-362-7999.
