If you've ever wondered what a meeting between political comedian/atheist Bill Maher and religious leader Pope Francis would look like, Skip Maloney has done the imagining for you.
Skip Maloney is a freelance writer and a sometime playwright. Because he's writing everyday, doesn't always use his free time to write plays-unless he's really inspired. He was recently inspired by the real-life personas of Bill Maher and Pope Francis, so he wrote the play Billy and the Pope (the main characters are Billy Flanagan & Pope Thomas). In his interview above, Maloney begins talking about what inspired him to create a character based on Bill Maher.
Maloney's play hasn't been produced yet, but keep your eye out for a production in Wilmington sometime soon.
