If you are a person with a disability, getting around town can be difficult. The same goes for folks who are older and have poor eyesight or other limitations. WAVE Transit currently provides transportation options to help these people who need them. And it's about to get better.
WAVE received a federal grant to improve and increase services to people who are age 65 and up and people with disabilities. The first step in initiating the programs the grant will fund is to elicit input from those who will benefit from these services. WAVE has held 3 public forums this week to get this input, with one remaining: tomorrow (Saturday, 7/16), 2:00-4:00 at the Northeast Library. There is also an online survey to give input.

WAVE's Mobility Manager, Vanessa Lacer, joined us to talk about the forums and the plans. Listen above. Note that a big part of the improvement plans involves distributing funds from the grant to local non-profits, government agencies, and private companies who serve transportation needs for people 65+ and people with disabilities. We'll hear from WAVE again as this project unfolds.
