Communique: 3 Judges, 9 Finalists At UNCW | Ronald Sachs Int'l Music Competition

The Ronald Sachs International Music Competition is Friday and Saturday at UNCW's Beckwith Recital Hall, featuring a performance by the three judges Friday night at 7:30 and the final 3 competition performances Saturday night at 7:30. Masterclasses are Friday daytime competition begins Saturday morning. 

The public is invited to attend the Masterclasses, competition, and performances free of charge.

  • Friday, May 11

10:00am-2:00pm: Masterclasses woodwinds with Nicole Esposito (10:00), strings with Kevin Lawrence (~11:30), and piano with Joseph Rackers (~12:45)

7:30pm: Performance by Adjudicators

Nicole Esposito, flute / Elizabeth Loparits, piano Philippe Gaubert: Ballade; Yuko Uebayashi: Le Moment du Cristal    

Kevin Lawrence, violin / Paolo André Gualdi, piano Claude Debussy: Sonata for Violin and Piano in G Major L148        

Joseph Rackers, piano Sergei Rachmaninoff: Etude-Tableau in G Minor, op. 33, no. 8; Alexander Scriabin: Etude in B Major, op. 8, no. 4; Sergei Rachmaninoff: Etude-Tableau in E-flat Minor, op. 39, no. 5

  • Saturday, May 12

10:00am: Competition 3 categories: Strings, Piano, Woodwinds

7:30pm: Grand Prize Competition 3 finalists perform for the Grand Prize, followed by a reception
