*Note: By submitting music to this contest, entrants are agreeing to the release detailed below.

Attention, musically talented ‘HQR listeners! WHQR is looking for new theme music for our forthcoming talk show, CoastLine.

We need something upbeat with an opening hook that catches listeners’ attention. Other specifics:

Must be between 40 and 45 seconds long.

Must have a definitive ending.

Entrants must own 100% of the rights to the submissions.

Themes we love: The KojoNnamdi theme song. (Find out why composer Robert Kapilow thinks it’s great here.) The theme song for The Splendid Tablealso has the instant hook and abrupt ending we need.

Listen to CoastLine’s previous theme here to get a feel for the spirit we’re looking for, and go for it!

Send your best work in the form of an .mp3 file to whqr@whqr.org. Listeners will vote online to select the official theme song from the staff-selected top 3 entries. Please have theme entries submitted by December 1st.

The contest winner will receive live  composer credits for the CoastLine theme for the first seven airings of the show. She/he will also be featured in an artist's profile on WHQR.org and promoted through both Twitter and Facbook.

And fear not! Even if your piece is not chosen for the Coastline theme, you may hear your music featured in our news stories, station breaks, or other produced work at the station.
