The world's biggest classical music festival wraps with a bang! Join Classical HQR 96.7 for this event that stops the UK in its tracks as the Brits bring out the noisemakers for this serious and silly don't-miss-it concert. Marin Alsop conducts the "Last Night of the Proms." Pianist Benjamin Grosvenor, soprano Danielle de Niese, and acclaimed tenor Jonas Kaufmann join the BBC Symphony Orchestra and BBC Symphony Chorus in a concert that runs from Puccini arias to Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 2. This year's program includes the world premier of Eleanor Alberga's Arise, Anthena!; also featured are Richard Strauss' Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks, and a touch of Broadway magic from Rodgers & Hammerstein's The Sound of Music, with distinctly British music to bring down the curtain in time-honored fashion.
The concert airs on Classical HQR 96.7 FM at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, with an encore at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 3.
