Cinematique Presents: "Yellow Submarine"

Jun 12, 2018

Yellow Submarine will be shown in Thalian Hall's Main Stage Theatre from Monday, July 9th, to Wednesday, July 11th. The film will play Monday to Wednesday at 7pm with an additional screening on Wednesday at 4pm.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of its release, Cinematique is pleased to bring Yellow Submarine to Wilmington. In this special remastered rerelease of the 1968 film, The Beatles agree to accompany Captain Fred in his Yellow Submarine and go to Pepperland to free it from the music hating Blue Meanies in an animated journey filled with puns and dry British humor. The swirling animation is a mixture of pop-culture images and modern artistic styles brought together with an antiwar message and some clever political commentary.

From the Critics:

"The blend of stunning music and innovative visuals make this a true festival of the senses.”
Staff, Total Film

“This charming fable chronicling the Beatles' battles to save Pepperland from the Blue Meanies is one of the best testaments ever to the redeeming value of good music.”
Richard Harrington, Washington Post
