CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE: Updates, resources, and context

Celebrating Darwin Day

photo of Michael Werner by Cleve Callison

February 12th is the birthday of Charles Darwin, one of the most influential scientists in history. His Origin of Species laid the foundation for the theory and study of evolution.

Humanists and Freethinkers of Cape Fear are celebrating Darwin's birthday. Michael Werner of of the Humanists spoke to us during the Midday Interview on Thursday, February 11th. "His theory of evolution is probably the most important intellectual insight into the world that we've ever had," Werner said. Werner discussed evolution, the importance of science in understanding the world, the importance of science education, and how the U.S. stacks up against the rest of the world in scientific literacy.
