Carolina Beach is getting a new fire chief while the hiring process for a new head of town police continues.
WHQR’s Michelle Bliss reports that Alan Griffin will start fighting fires in a few weeks.
Griffin is currently the Director of Emergency Services for Montgomery County, a post he’s been in since 2007.
His firefighting experience includes work as the assistant fire marshal for Moore County, a fire suppression lieutenant for the village of Pinehurst, and fire chief for the town of Biscoe.
Griffin will replace Jon Rorie who left in December to take a job in Georgia.
The search for a police chief continues and Carolina Beach Town Manager Tim Owen says they are in the process of conducting candidate interviews. The previous police chief William Younginer retired in December.
