Wilmington, NC – Wilmington and New Hanover County are seeking candidates for the proposed Cape Fear Utility Authority.
The city and county are expected to vote soon whether to approve merging their water and sewer systems and setting up a utility authority.
If approved, the authority will take over management in January.
A call for candidates asks for anyone who thinks they can fix the area's troubled sewer systems, but notes that applicants with banking, business management and public utilities experience are preferred.
Applications to serve on the Cape Fear Utility Authority are due by March 15th.
Officials Meet With State Lawmakers
Wilmington, New Hanover County and Wrightsville Beach officials will meet with area state lawmakers Thursday to deliver a progress report on repairs to the sewer system.
That meeting is open to the public and will take place at 4:00p.m. in the old county courthouse.
