Closing Reception: Friday, October 27th, 6 - 9 pm

Show Closing: Friday, November 10th

About the Show:

Array of Color, a celebration of color and form in two different perspectives. The artists are both New Yorkers who have relocated to the Wilmington area and documented their discovery of the South in their paintings.

Anne Trombetta is an Impressionistic Oil Painter who depicts surfers, shore birds, boats, beaches and gardens in all their brilliant splendor.  Mary Zio works in the Abstract style of painting.  She uses local landscapes, coastal waters and the incredible coastal sunsets for inspiration, along with color and form as her subject matter.

Anne tends to work in small and medium size, while Mary paints medium to large canvases.  Together these two women have a show rich in color and contrast.

About the Artists:

Anne Trombetta

Anne Trombetta studied art in college, but everything she knows about painting was learned in the last few years.  She took classes at Cameron and participated in workshops from New York to Florida.  She resides in Leland, North Carolina, and has lived there since 2012. She is a member of WAA and the Oak Island Art Guild. Anne creates illustrations for comicphonics.com and teach classes called 2HourArtist.   She also exhibited artwork at LCAC, Caprice Bistro, Loveys, Art Factory, ACES, Sunset River Marketplace, Landfall, Bellamy Mansion and Franklin Gallery.  She was an art teacher in the public schools of New York for many years.

"Painting is a part of my daily life.  I have a studio in my house and I am there most days.  I used to wonder how someone could practice the piano for 6 or 8 hours a day.  Now I understand.  When you are doing what you love, it is joyful." - Anne Trombetta

Mary Zio

Mary Zio is a contemporary, abstract artist, currently living in Carolina Shores, North Carolina. She received a Bachelor’s of Fine Art from Purchase College (S.U.N.Y.), outside of New York City, with a concentration in Printmaking, and a minor in Art History. Over the years, Mary has displayed and sold artworks in various galleries and shops in New York and North Carolina, including the Everson Museum, in Syracuse, New York. Mary has worked in many different art mediums, such as printmaking, glass and furniture painting, murals, faux finishing, and watercolors. However, for the past few years, painting with acrylics has become my favorite medium. Mary's current work can be seen at Phthalo Blue Art Gallery in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, where you can find her paintings, etchings, and refurbished vintage windows. Mary also does commissioned artwork.
