CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE CLOSURE: UPDATES, RESOURCES, AND CONTEXT

96.7 listeners: you could win a FREE HD Radio

iBiquity, Inc.

Updated January 21, 2015:

Since the 24-hour Classical HQR signed on in September 2014, we have received many expressions of gratitude from listeners who can receive the signal. This includes much of New Hanover County and the north Brunswick County area around Leland.

Listeners in other areas where 96.7 is not strong have two options: listening online through the Listen Live button at the top left of this page, or via an HD Radio, which will receive the HD2 signal of our primary station 91.3. At this time we can confirm that listeners in the Southport/Oak Island/St. James area will be able to receive the HD2 signal. Listeners in more distant areas such as Supply, Ocean Isle and Sunset Beach may not be able to receive HD until we have completed upgrades to that signal, now expected in February.

Thanks to the generosity of some great public-spirited donors (see below), WHQR has created the HD Radio Pay It Forward Fund. Through the fund, we are able to provide an Insignia FM/HD radio AT NO CHARGE to 25 or more WHQR members having trouble receiving Classical HQR at 96.7 FM.

The normal list price of this radio is $51.99 at Best Buy stores and bestbuy.com. The number of members selected for a free HD Radio will be determined by the number of applications and the amount remaining in the Fund.

HD radios receive ordinary FM signals as well as the special HD signal that WHQR broadcasts on 91.3 FM. The HD2 channel is the same Classical HQR heard at 96.7 FM.

Thanks to the following donors who have contributed to the HD Pay It Forward Fund:
