Ways to Connect

Monday, October 10th
MC Erny Gallery at WHQR

Prologue host, Ben Steelman of StarNews, will sit down with John Jeremiah Sullivan, accomplished author, contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine and Southern editor for The Paris Review.

WHQR is participating in the 5th Annual International PARK(ing) Day by taking over a parking space and creating a lush SoundGarden. The garden will be located in a parking space directly in front of HQR’s Studios at 254 N. Front Street and will be open from 11am – 6pm on Friday, September 16, 2016. We hope to see you there!

Hailing from Raleigh, NC, I am no stranger to the fandom that follows Rise – a biscuit and doughnut bakery that, on multiple accounts, has been lauded as “last-meal worthy."  Rise has been on the tip of everyone in Wilmington’s tongue lately in anticipation of the opening day. Its quick development in the Triangle has fostered a legacy that is making it the cool new kid on the block, just in time for the new school year.

WHQR's Community Advisory Board is hosting an HQR Meetup. Join the CAB, HQR staff and public radio friends for a Fun Evening at the Bellamy Mansion! Join in the fun and friendship with wine, beer, snacks, a DJ and HQR hosts. We hope to see you there!

I’ve got an appetite for radio and not just in the metaphorical sense. My appetite is literal. In the same vein as the overused joke of “having a face for radio,” apparently I’ve got the stomach for it too. Since arriving at WHQR, I’ve been filled with constant indulges in local culture and news, but there’s a big part of the piece that doesn’t carry through to the airwaves.

What's on your grocery list? Eggs, milk, bread, and maybe a glass of wine while you're aisle-bound.

Ewan McGregor and Naomie Harris star in this gripping adaptation of John le Carré's best-selling thriller about an ordinary English couple who find themselves caught up in international intrigue. While on vacation in Marrakech, an ordinary English couple befriend a flamboyant and charismatic Russian who, unbeknownst to them, is a kingpin money launderer for the Russian mafia.

WHQR held its 2016 Annual Meeting on Thursday, July 21. The Board of Directors, Community Advisory Board members, staff and WHQR audiences came together to celebrate a great year and to set the stage for 2017.

SOUP TO NUTS LIVE! presents Jamie Hoover on Thursday, August 11 at 6:30 pm in the MC Erny Gallery at WHQR.

WHQR's online streams are down but George Scheibner (Operations Manager) is working on restoring them right now. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Our 91.3fm and 92.6fm transmissions are operating as scheduled.
