Joseph Cargioli

Community Advisory Board Member

Joseph Cargioli has resided in Wilmington with his wife, Penni, since 2014.  They have two grown sons, one living in Wilmington and one in Pittsburgh.  Born in Erie, PA, Joe previously lived in Niskayuna, NY, and Chestertown. NY.  Joe graduated from Gannon University in 1966 with a degree in science.  He was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War era, serving from 1966 to 1968 at the Army Chemical Center in Edgewood, Maryland, as a chemist.

Joe worked at the General Electric Corporate Research Center in Schenectady for 34 years as a Chemist and Metallurgist and held several management positions during that time, including Plant Manager with 250 employees and overseeing a $40M yearly budget.  During that time, he published 40 technical papers and 2 textbook chapters in the field of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance.  Joe retired from GE in 2000, and consulted in the field of Intellectual Properties and Knowledge Management from 2000 to 2002. 

A competitive runner for several years, Joe served as Northeast Division captain for the GE track and field team and was an officer for the USA Track and Field and US Corporate Athletic Association.  His hobbies include golf, working out and carpentry.
