Joanne Bagby has lived in the Wilmington area since 2002. She moved here from the Albany, NY area seeking a more moderate climate and access to beaches year round. She is originally from metro NYC area, having lived in London, Detroit and Boston among other places.
Joanne recently retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs where she worked for 26 years. Joanne has her Master's in Social Work and worked in multiple mental health and substance abuse programs. Prior to retirement, she assisted homeless veterans in securing permanent housing in a partnership with the Wilmington Housing Authority.
Joanne has transitioned to retirement with her enthusiastic sense of community found in her volunteering at Thalian Hall, Wilson Center, Good Shepherd and of course WHQR. In the past, she was on the board of directors for the Wilmington Road Runners and led an Adopt a Highway road cleanup crew.
Joanne also enjoys being a triathlete, traveling and reading. She has completed 22 full marathons and several Half Ironman Triathlons in addition to many local races.
Joanne lives with her husband Ben. She has two grown children-a daughter in Charlotte and a son in Washington DC.
