JC Smith’s passion for public radio can be traced back to his youth spending countless hours building and listening to shortwave radio with his father. He has supported public radio for decades serving in various volunteer capacities, first at WUKY in Lexington, Kentucky, and most recently with Louisville Public Media.
JC and his wife, Betsy, recently relocated to Wilmington to pursue encore careers and enjoy the coastal lifestyle. After a fulfilling career in community banking, JC leads the learning and teaching initiatives at Wilmington based Life Oak Bank. Betsy is a landscape architect-turned-painter who is loving Wilmington’s vibrant visual arts scene. JC and Betsy are both University of Kentucky graduates and remain avid supporters of Big Blue Nation, despite moving to ACC country.
