Wilmington, NC – A grand jury has indicted former New Hanover County Sheriff's Deputy Christopher Long on charges of 2nd degree murder for the death of Peyton Strickland.
Long appeared in Superior Court in Wilmington Monday afternoon.
Long was part of an elite New Hanover County Sheriff's unit that teamed up with UNCW police to issue search-and-arrest warrants for Strickland December 1st. Strickland was shot and killed inside the doorway of his home.

Wilmington, NC – The $235,141 in grassroots grants distributed to Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, and Pender Counties will fund 13 groups and a number of individual artists ? everything from a puppetry program in Columbus County schools to the Brunswick County Arts Council to UNCW Art Department chair Donald First.
