Once again, Jeanne Jolly brought the whole package to WHQR's Soup To Nuts Live! in Wilmington NC on Thursday, April 18, 2013. 8-string guitarist (and Jeanne's producer) Chris Boerner and drummer Nick Baglio painted a wonderfully melodic backdrop for Jeanne's performance.

WHQR + Ice Cream = A Great Afternoon For All at Hugh MacRae Park

On Sunday, September 16th, WHQR members, listeners and staff came together for an Ice Cream Social at Hugh MacRae Park in Wilmington. Young and old alike shared in the fun as station staff put their backs into it and dug through frozen containers of delicious flavors like Strawberry White Chocolate, Vanilla, and Lemon Basil from Velvet Freeze.

This week, we’ve had many fewer comments, and I used the opportunity to go back and see what people wrote to us who contacted us by web pledges during our one-day drive in December. Crane Malfunction Disrupts Downtown

The arm of a crane placing bulkheads on the construction site of the Marriott Courtyard hotel bends under the stress, forcing nearby office buildings to evacuate. Onlookers gathered along Grace Street in downtown Wilmington to watch as crews worked to resolve the situation.

Building an Oyster Reef

The North Carolina Coastal Federation spearheaded an important event on Saturday, November 19, bringing together WHQR staff & board members, General Electric employees, along with local high school and college students, for the building of an oyster reef at Morris Landing Clean Water Preserve on Stump Sound, near Holly Ridge, NC.
