Weather en Tropical Storm Andrea could dump heavy rain on Cape Fear region <p><em><strong>A tropical storm warning and a flood watch are in effect for our area – as the first named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season prepares to make landfall near the Florida panhandle tonight.</strong></em></p><p>The National Weather Service says the flood watch extends from Florida to Virginia.</p><p>And the storm is expected to move over Georgia and South Carolina tonight.&nbsp; Heavy rain will also push into North Carolina tonight, and we could see Tropical Storm conditions by Friday.</p><p>Our coastal areas can expect up to 4 inches of rain through tomorrow.&nbsp; We could also see some gusty winds.&nbsp;</p><p>There’s an increased risk of rip currents and high tides.&nbsp; And tornadoes are could be a threat tomorrow – depending on Andrea's path.</p><p>The weather service is urging people to review their preparedness plans and be ready to implement them.</p><p>We’ll be tracking the storm throughout, so stay tuned to WHQR for the latest information as it becomes available.</p><p>This afternoon we'll bring you updates beginning at 4 PM on <em>All Things Considered</em>.&nbsp; Updates will continue through George Scheibner's <em>Smooth Landings </em>until 7 PM.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>Then tune in Friday morning at 5 AM.&nbsp; We're going on the air one hour earlier during Morning Edition to keep you updated on the progress of Tropical Storm Andrea.&nbsp;</p><p><a href="">To see a current track of Tropical Storm Andrea, visit this link:&nbsp; </a></p><p><a href=""></a></p><p>To see WWAYTV3's latest forecast, follow this link:&nbsp; <a href=""></a></p><p> Mon, 10 Jun 2013 01:26:10 +0000 Rachel Lewis Hilburn 37693 at Tropical Storm Andrea could dump heavy rain on Cape Fear region
